Hand Painted signs and graphics

Pantone Colours
Why Hand-Painted?
  • Any colour can be mixed. I can work from the Pantone Matching System (PMS) or match an existing colour sample by eye.
  • Whilst the differences are subtle, a hand-rendered alphabet has more 'personality' and is more 'human' than a font created by a type foundry (the ones found in your computer, book or newspaper). Foundry fonts often take years to design and are for the most part, intended to be read, not noticed.

  • Paint is extremely versatile. Practically any stable surfaces can be painted with the right materials.
  • People often like to watch and talk to sign painters . A business being sign-painted is less common than one being fitted with vinyl, therefore there is the potential for more free publicity.
What is a graphic?
In this context, a graphic can be defined as the use of line, solid shape and colour to communicate an idea.

Fine Art and Graphic Art Comparison
It can take the form of an icon or logo or a pictorial rendered in solid lines and shapes.
In sign work it is used to augment the message of the sign and when well used, it can speak a thousand words.
Because of it's hard-edged nature, when used in wall murals it can compliment the structural characteristics of architecture.
